Unfortunately there are a few individuals there with ideas well above their station, who know nothing about Concorde then slag off the ones that do. One
particular individual calls everyone a "waste of time" and wonders why people think he's an idiot. Pisses me off, yet I still post there more
than I do here... Sorry, I guess...

Thank you... Well at least I have the satisfaction of actually coming to help with DG on a few occasions so although my contribution is minimal compared to you
guys, I still reckon it's more than certain people over there.
How's it looking for the Vulcan next year? I still haven't seen her in action yet and the one time she came to Devon (for Dawlish airshow) I was in London watching the cricket at The Oval! D'OH!! Will she return to Devon? I doubt somehow that I'll be seeing her while here in Sydney, although I'm told that 6 F111's are going to perform the Dump and Burn over Sydney Harbour on Australia Day... There's a sight, but still no Vulcan. |

'It was too late - or was it?'
is a bit film noir.... 'It would also be a living tribute to cooperation between European nations in the post-war era' got the large hadron collider now or whatever's left of switzerland afterwards - which reminds me, must rush out to buy a first edition of angels and demons. 'BA "doesn't know" if feasibility study was carried outThis was the response given to SCG by BA's Chief Executive, Willie Walsh, when questioned on the existence of the feasibility study conducted in 2003
that ruled out the viability of Concorde's heritage flight'

Hi Steve,
"The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (c.36) is an Act of Parliament that introduces a public "right to know" in relation to public bodies." BA is not a public body, so that takes care of that. The "feasibility study" is a red herring the SCG loves to throw about. There was an "Alliance" feasibility study in 2003, which had a long and hard look at the possibility of keeping some of the BA and AF Concordes flying with a kind of "core" operation, concentrating on a few of the most profitable items like charters, round-the-bay flights, Barbados, and suchlike. Several well-known names were involved, and it's been reported in the press and elsewhere. In the end, considering the economic situation in 2003 and several other factors, it was declared not viable. The "feasibility study" that SCG keeps carping about was that for a "heritage flight", i.e., keeping one aircraft airworthy for airshows, etc. With even a commercial operation like the "Alliance" study already considered as not feasibile, clearly a non-revenue operation like a "heritage flight" was out, too. Whether a formal "heritage flight feasibility study" was ever done, or whether it was just a quick "back-of-the-envelope" exercise based on the Alliance study, discussed at the top level at BA, is now of course totally irrelevant. Such a study would have been based on the then existing infrastructure. Once that went, the study was moot. It's only SCG that still can't understand that simple fact.... CJ |

Centrino wrote:Yes, Centrino, we have these kind of guys in France. They love hearing themselves talk... They love to hear people talking about them.... They love showing their faces on many "bling-bling" videos... But they will never get down on their knees, and take a rag and water to remove pigeon poop on a Concorde wing...

hello christian.
'BA is not a public body, so that takes care of that.' it's not quite as simple as that, they were considered for inclusion in an extension under sections 4 or 5, or something and don't forget that not that long ago they were a public body. tbh i don't know much about the act, consequences, etc. maybe i'll have a further look. 'The "feasibility study" is a red herring the SCG loves to throw about.' iirc someone tossed them that fish and they're still playing with. btw i'm still waiting for the paintless sd orly video 8-) Raffles76 dusted off the blunderbuss and wrote: 'This effort sums up SCG - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPkFVPqVUU0 ' that's really cruel, you killed them.... :-( |
