If too many people see these they are going to think that SD will be pulled out of the hangar and will fly at the next Paris Air Show in June. This sort of
speculation goes around quickly. It would not be the first time.
Good work
by the way.

Yes, it's the risk.
And yes it was not a good idea this bad joke .... Sierra Delta will not fly at the next Paris Air Show ! and pulled out SD of the hangar is I think too complicated ! SD is only on "life support" !

I was at the Washington Dulles NASM most recently on my way back from Buenos Aires.
The flights always allow me some layover time which I always use for a visit to Concorde FA and the SR71. Unfortunately I never have enough time to see much of the rest of this most fabulous museum. I am a big fan! I am so thrilled each time I go there that I never hesitate to chip in a financial contribution so they can keep up the good work. They are planning to build a new section where visitors will be able to witness on-site aircraft restoration. Also they hope to get one of the Space Shuttles once their flying program gets to an end. FA is spotless and gets heaps of admirers. She amazes visitors. Children love her. She gets visitors during the day and then she has all the other aircrafts keeping her company at night. She is never alone and she is kept under very good care by all the wonderful volunteers. Pictures

I would disagree about her being "Spotless" AF should have re-painted here many years before the retirement.

gordonroxburgh wrote:This is your own opinion and you have a right to it. Nevertheless I like her as she is. I think she looks truly realistic "as is" after the ferry flight, beautiful and clean. I do not think she needs to be repainted. She would look too "new". They can use the money for upgrading the museum. She is in the best possible hands. I will always be happy to layover or even reroute myself to IAD any time. I cannot think of any other such Air and Space Museum anywhere in the world. They can't be beat and it's all free!!! Congratulations Washington Dulles (and downtown) NASM!!!!

I agree, she's as clean and spotless as any of our birds in a museum at the moment. The crews at the NASM do like to keep the place very clean and tidy.
The Enola Gay is so well shined up you can see your face in its nosecone, its a mirror finish. Wish I could say the same of the exhibits at Duxford for
instance...

Excellent video!
How often do you bring her to life? I'd like to plan a trip out to Le Bourget the next time if its open to the public while she's alive.... Cheers! |

concordepa,
Check www.mae.org for things like opening times, etc. (only in French, I'm afraid). The museum is open every day except Monday. The "bringing to life" is not strictly to a fixed program... it depends on the presence of volunteers, and it's usually once or twice a week. Get back here on the forum, once your travel plans are more precise, and we'll try to inform you. CJ |

Thanks. I live in Paris, so traveling isn't the issue, just scheduling and work :-) I've been to the museum of course, one of my favorites in Paris
(albeit a bit difficult to reach by Metro/bus).
