Just like the Apollo Astronaughts i think Concorde pilots will become celebs as guys like us will want to hear their speaches

I'm quite sure that when you are junior in rank to Mike Bannister on the flight deck its a case of do exactly as he says and also that he is very definitely the Captain.

But as he clearly believes very strongly in hierarchies, rather than in being a free spirit, presumably when El Generalissimo Ellington calls the tune its a case of do exactly as his big boss says.

I was the last passenger to talk to the crew on the flight deck as we left BA2 at LHR on Oct 16th and lets just say that as none of them sprung to Mike's defence when I suggested that his constant repeated spouting of the company PR line had been possibly just a little disappointing I thereby gained a fairly good insight into his popularity amongst his colleagues!

For all three on the flight deck that afternoon it was their last ever Concorde flight so I suspect that just at that moment the "right decison at the right time" official BA line may have been ringing ever so slightly hollow.
