An interesting argument about whether to allow Concorde to have the facility to be rolled out on special occasions, it certainly would make an added
attraction for the future, but then again after all the work to get her undercover, maybe we should be grateful that the long term preservation of G-BOAC is
being looked at.
Maybe once South Gloucester council get off their backsides and finally start the ball rolling for G-BOAF's long planned museum they can look at the
feasibility of putting doors on .

Paul, I don't think you have anything like the space at Filton to do something like that, looking at some ofthe original plans with the land available

For some reason Google Maps and Google Earth are not updated on the same schedule." Thanks! I did.... and all I got was a field that looked as if bulldozers had been round it recently, but nothing else. Satellite pic probably years out of date. Anybody else has a more recent view? CJ |

That's exactly the map+satellite pic I looked at. I see no Concorde, or RJX, or anything resembling an aircraft..... |

Edited to add: Google Maps also now has a clear view of Zhukovsky and you can spot a Tu-144 parked up at one end of a taxiway. In the past it was too blurry to see anything there.

I was looking at Bournemouth airport on google earth and was a bit confused by what i saw, theres a 146 near to a 737 and the 146 looks at least the same size,
if not slightly bigger, Im sure a 737 is bigger than a 146!

Continuing on, thye road passed through 'level crossing' gates which were closed for 06 arrivals (the 06 threshold was where I've drawn a black
line across today's runway). It was then joined by the road from Styal coming in from the left, then continued down the hill, over the old Bollin bridge,
and past the Valley Lodge pub (now a hotel, the car park covering the old road). Then it joined the present route of the A538 to continue to Wilmslow.

In my experience, the best handling aeroplane ever (but I've not yet flown a Spitfire!). The Yak52 is sharper, far more powerful, and more aerobatic, but it doesn't quite have the control harmonisation of dH's masterpiece. Vince |
