You have a Chimpmuk? I love them, they are special to me becuase they are the only plane i have taken the controls of when i was in the air cadets, great lil planes!

In my experience, the best handling aeroplane ever (but I've not yet flown a Spitfire!). The Yak52 is sharper, far more powerful, and more aerobatic, but it doesn't quite have the control harmonisation of dH's masterpiece.

That picture reminded me of how the area was back in the early '60s when we used to cycle up to Ringway to watch the aeroplanes. The A538 and the tunnels (marked green on the picture) didn't exist then. The Altrincham to Wilmlow road followed the route I've marked in red.... it's the road that's curretly used to access the AVP today (I've ringed the AVP in purple). The...

I was looking at Bournemouth airport on google earth and was a bit confused by what i saw, theres a 146 near to a 737 and the 146 looks at least the same size, if not slightly bigger, Im sure a 737 is bigger than a 146!

Paul, I don't think you have anything like the space at Filton to do something like that, looking at some ofthe original plans with the land available

That's a bit of a bummer, would have been nice to have her out in the open every now and again.

I did.... and all I got was a field that looked as if bulldozers had been round it recently, but nothing else.
Satellite pic probably years out of date.

An interesting argument about whether to allow Concorde to have the facility to be rolled out on special occasions, it certainly would make an added attraction for the future, but then again after all the work to get her undercover, maybe we should be grateful that the long term preservation of G-BOAC is being looked at.

Maybe once South Gloucester council get off their backsides and finally start the ball rolling for G-BOAF's long planned museum they can look at the...

Have seen AA, and I really think somebody should fund opening the "back door"... There IS space behind.

It will cost about the same as the space on the average motorway layby for three 38T lorries. In other words, zilch, compared to the hangar.

Not enough room really, either in front or behind the current position. However, you've got a few months to take your photos (the aircraft won't change much after that, even if it is inside!!) and it'll have to be moved while the hangar is built so there might be some unusual photos to be had.
