BA staff onboard Ferry Flights

31 Oct 2003 and 26 Nov 2003 all 5 flyable Concordes left Heathrow for the last time, unofficially these flights where called the Ferry Flights.

During these dates me and many other friends from this forum where at Heathrow to witness each take off. It was our last and final time to chase Concorde around Heathrow and bid farewell to a much loved and valued friend.

After that terrible crash in July 2000, I had "Concorde Withdrawal" as all Concorde flights suddenly ceased operations. Every weekend I went to JFK here in NY and "baby sat" F-BVFC which was stranded. I just sat for hours and gazed at her from Terminal One's large windows. Suddenly, she looked awful. A reddish material was placed over each windshield and window. I thought this meant she would never fly again. My question is were the other "stranded" Concordes...

I have a very intriguing idea that involves Concorde (I won't disclose what at this moment), and was wondering if any Concorde captains have public email addresses which I can contact. I know about ClubConcorde, but I would like to consider who I contact first. No, my idea is not RTF!

DG was used for a spoof on Ryanair this week. It was filmed on Monday and used at the end of the programme. The proper Ryanair story is the first item in the show so if, like me, your cannot stomach an hour of Anne Robinson you can skip to the end for DG. Matt Allwright, who presents the "Rogue Traders" section of the programme, came on one of our Concorde Experience tours a few months ago, so presumably had an influence on the location for the spoof. Mildly amusing.

New Flight Speedbird One

It has come to my attention that British Airways has a new flight into JFK called "Speedbird 1". Remember this flight had been the Concorde from LHR>JFK daily. It is now a lowly A318 from Shannon. Can this be true? Do they have no respect for the past? Couldn't this flight have been given a different flight number? I am quite shocked. Am I over-reacting? This new flight starts from LCY and continues to JFK.

Thinking about September 11 made me recall that G-BBDG found new life, of a sort, as the test bed for the reinforced cockpit doors that had to be fitted to all aircraft, including Concorde, that flew to the US starting sometime after September 11. Had this not happened, might the aircraft's fate have been different once the Concorde program started winding down? Yesterday I sent off an enquiry to MGR Foamtex regarding those Concorde office chairs as a number are wanted at work, and this morning I got my reply stating that BA had recently contacted them wanting to put seats back into AB. That's the only info I have, but it seems that BA are now pushing ahead with AB, which can only be good news.

Disappointing Concorde Celebration at Intrepid

I visited the Intrepid yesterday for the celebration of G-BOAD's 1st flight. I was very disappointed, except for a table set-up with 2 Intrepid guides, there was no celebration. On the table, were models of various aircraft. They were there to answer questions about Concorde. There were no speeches, former pilots, nor any British Airways speakers. After complaining, I was asked to make a speech about "Alpha Delta" to the crowd waiting to board but I cannot speak in public and...

Thanks to Gordon for the answer to my last question, but another thing has been making me think. I've noticed various photos of different BA Concordes, from the earlier periods of the 'Utopia' branding, and it seems that each Concorde had a slight variation of the design - at least AA, AB and AC did anyway. I would just like any other info on this if possible. Thanks!
