I have vague recollections of a package of major modifications to improve the overall capabilities of the aircraft.
Leading Edge Flaps and Retracting Canard surface to improve TO performance. Extension of 9 tank into baggage bay to extend range. A zero stage on the engine first stage compressor which (it was said) would make Reheat on TO unnecessary which in turn would reduce noise on TO and improve range. Several programs dealt with the Concorde story during the Xmas period. The emphasis on these programs (as always) is on the 'flying' aspect of the operation. I suppose that is what is interesting for the general public but I wish that just a small mention was made of the blood sweat and tears (for tears read curses) that went into providing a serviceable machine on a daily basis. She was beautiful in the air but a real Bastard to get her there. Ask anyone who worked in TBB.

Watching videos of Concorde, looking over my collection, has really got me thinking, and also really sad. I was 10 years old, when she was retired and every time I heard about Concorde really amazed and inspired me. It showed what can be achieved when you willing to, I mean, the plane was designed in the late 60's early 70's and yet still in 2009 not a single plane out there can top her. Objects in the sky

I was wondering if anyone else saw any strange objects in the sky last night around 10-30-ish?

My son came in around then, and being a keen sky-watcher, he saw travelling from west to east what at first he thought might be a satellite (he checked on line and it wasn't the space station), but it was a bright red flickering light which just seemed to break up.

Has anyone got any info. on this (MarK)?

I was wondering if there are any Concorde model builders out there? I have just bought Revel's 144:1 Concorde model. While I was at the store, I noticed that there was an Airfix (?) 72:1 model for sale there. Is this model (and the one I bought) any good. EADS officials cleared of insider trading

Concorde oven for sale - Good Price!

I just saw this. Not an auction. The person lives in Toulouse or nearby.
The oven is definitely authentic/genuine. It comes in a wood case, with the original tag and from the pictures is looks in superb condition.
The tag mentions TSS and has all the details. I vote for this being a replacement oven for the prototype F-WTSS.
I would buy in a flash it if I had the room to keep it. This is a valuable in my opinion and quite an unusual and rare Concorde part.

For decades, the daily British Airways flights from LHR to JFK were always B744s. Now, I notice that except for the night flight, they have all been replaced by B777s. I was unaware of this change but I saw it coming as I heard that the airline was cutting back. Qantas which has only 1 daily flight into JFK will also stop flying their B744s into JFK and replace with an Airbus starting in January. After the Concorde, my favourite aircraft is the B744 and soon only cargo flights will be seen...

Why the fairings at the wing root (shown on the picture below beneath the word BRITISH on the fuselage) are that 'wavy' irregular shape where they attach to the fuselage sides?
